Babies have a need to communicate. At
the beginning, it is there cries which differentiate between hunger, thirsty, or
tired. These communications are instinctive, and a need to be able to tell his
parents what he requires. Babies learn to communicate with there hands much
sooner then they learn to speak. Examples of this, is when your baby waves at
you to say hello. This sign language is picked up really quickly as the parents
use this in an everyday scenario.
Baby Sign language could open
up a whole new world of communication between baby and parents by learning to
use his hands to tell them when he requires Juice, or milk…or perhaps he is
hungry and would like something to eat. Or maybe your baby would like to play
with you. Baby Sign language can also help parents to communicate to
there baby to make them aware of Safety issues….such as “hot”, “Stop”.
You can start sign language with your
baby at anytime, however from around 6 – 9 months your baby will start to
understand the concept and vocabulary. All babies are unique however motor
skills used to shape there hands and make signs are usually learnt at around 6
months.
Great satisfaction can be found by
learning to sign with your baby. Your baby will learn a great skill, being able
to communicate more freely, and this is a great way to bond with your baby. |
